Simple Landlord Insurance

Background.

 

Simple Landlord Insurance cover over 50,000 rental properties in the UK. Landlords can also pick up home emergency cover, legal expenses cover and rent guarantee. All cover is tailored to the landlord and their property.

In 2012 Google changed how SEO worked. Prior to Google’s Penguin and Panda updates in 2012 Simple had ranked on Page 1 for ‘landlord insurance’, however, such rankings had declined over time.

 

Goal.

 

The primary goal was to increase organic search rankings and traffic by 30% over a 6 month period. The strategy would also need to clearly show the difference in revenue that working with Bricks & Marketing had made.

The second goal was to recruit for an SEO executive who could carry on where Bricks & Marketing had begun. Ongoing training would be important to make sure the candidate had the required expertise to surpass the steadily increasing traffic and revenue results.

 

Approach.

 

The strategy involved technical SEO, public relations, content marketing and conversion rate optimisation. The approach needed to prove the concept early on, to get further buy-in for the recruitment project.

Bricks & Marketing also began speaking to emerging SEO talent in the Doncaster, Leeds and Sheffield areas.

 

Results.

 

Organic search revenue increased by 35% and continues to grow. Simple also returned to page 1 of Google for ‘landlord insurance’.

In November 2016 Simple won ‘Best Landlord Insurance Supplier’ at the Landlord & Letting Awards, and in March 2017 also won Property Wire’s prestigious ‘Best Landlord Insurance Provider’ award.

Senior management are now happy to invest in expanding the in-house SEO team due to the positive return on investment.
